It's hard to believe that only a year ago did I purchase my first ever MAC lipstick. Little did I know that it would grow into a beautiful, blossoming love affair that only movies could depict (in truth, I probably did know). I simply cannot deny my love for MAC lipsticks - with their shade variations, finish variations, stunning limited edition collections - I'm obsessed. My collection has since grown from then and as I love to see the world-class shades others have purchased, I thought I would share with you my very own ever-growing collection to give you a spark of inspiration for which shade to go for next.

RUBY WOO
Ah, where it all started. Yes, Ruby Woo was my first ever MAC lipstick. As you can probably already tell I have a serious thing for vibrant, dramatic, stand-out shades - and what better way to begin than with Ruby Woo? With its retro matte formula, Ruby Woo can be incredibly drying on your lips along with being a task and a half to apply - however those being the only major downsides. The shade itself is beautifully Hollywood glam and lasts for hours upon hours. A holy grail product for me and no doubt many others, Ruby Woo is definitely sentimental for me. A perfect lip liner choice for this is Cherry if you want an all out glam look. Or of course, Ruby Woo from MAC's recent Pencilled In collection!

OPERA
Part of the gorgeous MAC Toledo collection, part of me (a huge part) was undeniably drawn in by the packaging. Just look at it! Simply beautiful. Opera is a deep red, not too dissimilar from Ruby Woo. However its matte formula makes it very creamy and smooth to apply. Again, Cherry would be a perfect lip liner to pair with it.

LADY DANGER
I have a love/hate relationship with this lipstick. Some days I love the look, other days I just feel it doesn't suit my skin tone at all. It probably isn't one of my most reached for lipsticks, unfortunately. Nonetheless, it's a gorgeous bright red with strong orange undertones and a matte finish. High Energy is a perfect lip liner pairing for this lipstick.

SALON ROUGE
Part of the holiday 2014 collection, this was a limited edition Heirloom Mix lipstick complete with flecked glitter packaging. It's a deep, berry red shade with a matte finish although with a subtle shine, giving beautiful dimension. One of my favourite shades to wear, particularly in Autumn/Winter paired with a subtle golden/rose golden eye look. It's always best to pair this kind of shade with a lip liner as it's much easier to notice wear/fraying. A perfect lip liner combo would be Burgundy. Such Flare and Just a Bite would be highly similar dupes for this shade.

HEROINE
Another one of my very favourites, this super pigmented purple shade brings with it a beautiful goth/vampy look. It is gorgeously dark and sultry for Autumn/Winter. And of course, a creamy application with longevity due to the matte finish. A perfect lip liner pair would be Magenta. MAC's Pencilled In collection also includes a Heroine lip liner.

GOOD KISSER
Another favourite that I actually keep forgetting I own! From MAC's 2014 Novel Romance collection, Good Kisser is a mid-tone fuchsia with a matte finish. It was unfortunately limited edition, however a great dupe would be Impassioned. For a beautifully vibrant look, Embrace Me lip liner would be a perfect match.

CANDY YUM-YUM
Definitely not for the faint hearted, Candy Yum-Yum is a bright, vibrant, hot pink with a matte finish. Not really for everyday wear, I'll mostly reach for this shade when I'm feeling brave. It's super girly and perfect for summer. A perfect lip liner match would be Embrace Me - or - if you want to go for an ombre-esque look, Magenta. Or, another from the Pencilled In collection, Candy Yum-Yum!

CREME CUP
A pretty, feminine pale pink with a cremesheen finish which is perfect for everyday wear. I tend to wear this when I'm going for a more natural look. With its formula it carries a beautiful shimmer, however it doesn't have the greatest staying power. Nonetheless a gorgeous shade to go for if you're just starting your MAC collection and you don't really know where to begin, or you're looking for a pretty nude. Anticipation would be a perfect lip liner match, however applied lightly as it will be deeply pigmented in comparison to the lipstick itself.

VELVET TEDDY
Bring the 90's back! This highly sought after lipstick is one of my most recent purchases, however probably my most used. Everyone wants their hands on it all thanks to Kylie Jenner and her beautifully wearable plumped nude lips. This lipstick is a creamy mauve nude shade with a matte finish. It pairs beautifully with such a wide range of make-up looks, skin tones and hair colours - you just can't go wrong with this shade. I'm head over heels for it, it's my everyday go-to! Whirl lip liner is the most perfect match.

Are any of these shades in your collection? Which MAC lipsticks are your favourite? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you for reading!

  1. Yesss - what a post! I'm in love with Creme Cup but I've bought it twice and both times the bullet's snapped off! Really want to try Velvet Teddy but worried it won't suit my skin tone. In love with Salon Rouge though - shame it's limited edition :'(

    1. Haha thank you love! Creme Cup is so pretty! That sucks that yours has snapped though :( You should definitely try Velvet Teddy though, I've seen it suit so many different skin tones! Salon Rouge is gorgeous. The dupes I mentioned are pretty similar - I also have a Sleek lipstick that's quite similar too. It's their True Colour lipstick in Cherry! It's sheen as opposed to matte though.
