A Week In Words

I think it's fair to say that in recent weeks I haven't been feeling quite like myself - and I feel slightly odd in wanting to share that with you. Slightly more personal posts are quite few and far between here on my blog. Funny, because lifestyle blogs are probably amongst my favourites to read - and although I love beauty as much as the next gal, I love to know what's going on in people's lives. Most of all, I love getting a more personal glimpse of the author behind a blog, when a person bares their personality - how they spend their days, what they like and dislike, what song they can't stop listening to. Thoughts such as these are what have lead me to writing this post. A post which is simply - me.

I recently found myself in a particular place and mindset that I was truly unhappy with. Gradually, things were starting to pile on my shoulders until I finally had to step back and take a couple of weeks to myself in order to regain motivation, re-learn what makes me truly happy and to understand why I'm doing what I'm doing. Last week was my final full week before returning back to reality and I had such a lovely time surrounded by happiness, positivity, love and laughter - which is exactly the kind of medicine I had been longing for.

Went shopping alone to find something to wear for Adam's sister's graduation the following day. As always, leaving it to the last minute. After much indecisiveness, a pit-stop for a red berry cooler from Costa and a sigh of relief later - I finally found my outfit. I picked up a palm leaf print jumpsuit from Topshop and matched it with nude-heels, a white cardigan and a white clutch from New Look. When I got home, I decided to download the three month free trial of Apple Music, which I'm rather enjoying. I'm head over heels for Drake at the moment, so his albums were the first thing I reached for. I love the 'recommended for you' section as well as the new artists section - I can't wait to discover and fall in love with some new music.

Adam and I boarded our train first thing in the morning to head to the North Coast to attend Becca's graduation during the day and to stay the night to celebrate. Despite the gloomy weather, we had such a lovely day filled with family, plenty of photos and a karaoke session at the local pub to end the night. Getting to spend time with Adam and his family is one of my favourite things to do and something we don't get to do often enough because of our sporadic schedules.

Before heading back home Adam, Becca and her boyfriend, Peter and I headed for breakfast in the morning in a little cafe along the seafront. We had a little wander around afterwards, stopping into a beautiful thrift shop called Hope & Gloria before jumping into Peter's car for the long drive home. Our car ride consisted of all of the loud Disney singalongs you can imagine. Adam and I were feeling super lazy when we arrived home, so we did nothing more than curl up and watch Netflix.

Adam and I had a day of just us, which was super nice and long overdue. It consisted mainly of baking cookies (which, I have to admit, turned out more like brownies) and taking the dog for a walk. Note: we don't actually own a dog, we were dog-sitting. We also reminisced that exactly one year ago we had arrived in Berlin with two of our close friends. We were rather jealous of our past selves.

Adam had to go into work in the morning for a couple of hours, so I took the opportunity to do something that I had been planning to do for the longest time. I filmed my very first (proper) YouTube video! It was exciting and strange and nerve-wrecking all at the same time. When Adam arrived home, he took some time out to relax on his laptop while I edited my video on mine. In the evening, we headed to his family's house to have an evening of takeaway, movies and drinks.

In the morning Adam, Becca, Peter and I went for a spot of shopping. I picked up a gorgeous pair of lace-up flats from Topshop which I absolutely adore. I managed to say no to the temptation of buying new Tsum Tsums (the addiction to collecting them is real). Adam and I returned home to a Saturday night in, consisting of curling up with some Netflix. I had the joys of waking up in the middle of the night to Adam trying to push me off the bed saying "Let's throw her off the roof!" and laughing manically in his sleep. Terrifying.

Adam went off to work and I posted my YouTube video filmed a few days previous. I was super nervous, but did receive some lovely feedback. It's certainly not the best video out there, but I was pleased with how it turned out. If you're interested, you can watch it here! I spent the rest of the day filming and editing another video, which will be coming soon. Adam arrived home in the evening and we ordered a naughty pizza and once again curled up with some Netflix. I'd have those kind of nights over a night out any day.
