What To Do When You Think You Are Not Good Enough.

Throughout life, no matter what we're setting out to achieve, most of us will feel that we simply aren't good enough. Whether it be in school, in a workplace, when you're applying for a job, within the blogging community - we all experience our down days that tell us we're not good enough to have what we're ultimately pursuing. More often than not, it all sprouts from our own self-doubt and we humans can be horribly guilty of not giving ourselves enough credit. Here is my advice on what to do when you think you are not good enough.

Remember that everyone compares.

It's hard to believe, but it's true that even the most seemingly confident and successful people you can think of will compare their life to someone else. Comparison is truly the thief of joy. We're all guilty of it, yet it's probably one of the most excruciatingly hurtful things we do to ourselves. It's so important to keep in mind that what we can see of other people's lives may be at a completely different stage to our own, or may not even be the full picture. Instead of looking at others who you believe are successful and feeling jealous and disheartened with yourself, look at them as an inspiration and a motivation.

Focus on progress over perfection.

We all have that perfect picture in our head of how we expect things to be - but if something even slightly goes off course it can lead to disappointment. We all strive so hard for success and perfection and when that doesn't happen, we can drown ourselves in a sea of self-loathing. Instead of focusing on getting everything perfect, focus on the progress you are making. Look back to where you were one year ago and feel proud of the progress you have made in that time.

Celebrate your achievements.

No matter how big or small, celebrating your achievements is so important. I will be the first to admit that I constantly set myself goals, meet them, then immediately move onto the next thing without taking a moment to celebrate my success. Start giving yourself credit for all of the hard work you put into what you do instead of downplaying it and thinking that you could do better. Again, look back to where you were one year ago and celebrate the achievements you have made to get to where you are now. If you never take a second to celebrate what you've accomplished, you will never feel good enough.

Be your own encouragement.

When you're experiencing one of those down days, it can be incredibly difficult to stop being your own worst enemy. Even when everyone else is telling you that you're wonderful, it can be hard to believe it yourself. Though remember, you are the only one who controls your mind and your thoughts are just thoughts. When you feel the self-doubt starting to creep in, try to remember all of the amazing things you have achieved. Your attitude determines your direction.

Do you have any tips on how to stop being your own worst enemy?
